Counting down and more SCORPIONS!! EWWWW

My house is finally almost organized, it is clean, almost all the laundry is done and I am doing paper plates/bowls the next week to keep some housework down for me. 7 more days and my mom will arrive. I am having contractions but keep telling him to stay put until Nana comes!! I would still love that 7-8-9 birthday too. I would really believe in The Secret since we joked about that date or 9-9-9 for so long. We are still hung up on a name. I told Lance if he doesn't want to get a short list I will just fill out the birth certificate and tell him what I filled in!! LOL!! So 2 nights ago the kids were playing and Liam went over by the front door and was looking and said "BUG" so of course Rori and Pierce run over and they are all looking and saying " BUG BUG" We thought maybe a roach since they tend to try to come in the front door, so Lance got up and next thing I know Liam and Pierce are flying back he is telling Rori to get back and then he says SCORPION! My toes curl I grab for the boys. Lance got a tool and put it in a plastic container. I am less than thrilled that this house that we really like is so scorpion prone. Yesterday I was cleaning the bathroom in our room and I bent down and when I came back up I saw a big one one the door frame and I ran screaming out of the room. Lance stuck him in a jar as well. I am about to bring a newborn home and have three little precious kiddos that I cannot stand the fact that these things are getting in the house. We are due for the bug guy again in a week but still.... I got a ride on tractor toy for Liam from freecycle that came with a live fresh black widow. Thankfully Lance saw it and cleaned it up and we sprayed bug killer in all the holes and cracks. I do not want to stress about deadly bugs!!! I can't even just let the kids run and play in the yard because I am afraid of those bugs! ** SIGH** If anyone knows how to keep these things out of the house and get rid of them let me know!! I don't know if I will blog before the baby comes or not. Hopefully we will figure out what to call him besides baby!!

My favorite capture this week

There are a few aside from Father's Day. I took a few photos this week so it is much harder to choose!!

This one I took for a color blue challenge.

This on I took for an above shot but went with something different as this turned more from the side. Pierce put on Rori's boots and had a fun time jumping!

This one I took for a Bokah challenge of baby shoes in my tree int he front yard.

Happy Father's Day... and Remembering Gish!

Today was a nice day. I made homemade blueberry pancakes for breakfast with scrambled eggs and chorizo. Then we went for a drive. We discovered a cheap way to eat ice-cream. You drive around until the kids fall asleep and then make a run for DQ! LOL!! We went to Macy's and got Lance a Father's Day belt and a running shirt since he is training for a marathon and he is also training to do the MS bike ride with my uncle in October. I also got a nightshirt for the hospital. We went to a park to take pictures. I wanted to take some pictures of Lance with the kids. They were still just as hard to photograph, so my candid ones turned out the best. I am posting a few here. We saw 4 or 5 little bunny rabbits. It was a nice day. We rented a redbox movie of Bedtime Stories which was a cute little film! The kids are actually all down as soon as Rori finishes reading her story. It is just 9pm so we will have some us time tonight! Today was also the day three years ago that we lost my favorite Grandma "Gish" I have thought about her a lot today. I usually take out her coffee cup and have a cup on this day and her birthday, but will do it tomorrow. I called my grandpa to tell him Happy Father's Day and he sounded down and wasn't in the mood to talk much. I didn't bring it up just told him Happy Father's Day and that I loved him! I really have a fear of dying. I have lost a grandparent with each pregnancy and have stressed about losing him this whole pregnancy. Lance's grandpa passed away and so I am still hoping that is it. 3 weeks left to go! He dropped yesterday so we are moving right along. My mom isn't coming until July 7 so I hope he stays put until then!

my favorite capture this week

Pierce plopped himself in the grass at Lance's school and picked dandelions and blew them. It was so sweet! :) This was my favorite capture this week although I am going to make a little series of them. :)

SURPRISE!!!!

Today I was given a surprise baby shower. I was completely clueless. My friends from my mommy group totally went out, and for baby 4! It was so nice. Funny how I didn't even suspect anything except this morning while I was getting ready I thought it strange that Tiffany had invited me to lunch with she and Lauren a month ago and I thought wait a second why isn't anyone else coming. Well now I know. :) I feel very blessed to have found these friends. It is nice every month to go to mom's night out and have fun. It is really nice to feel supported. It was a very nice day!! (more pictures to come!)

My inner Goth girl!!

Some of you have known me forever, some more recently, so some may or may not know about the Goth girl within me. When I was in high school I was in the library quad crowd which in the late 80's early 90's we called mod or new wavers. We went to clubs on weekends and danced to lighter bands like Depeche Mode and Heavier punk bands like Skinny Puppy. I loved that dark side, I loved those guys that had big hair, but I never let myself fully go to the goth, it was always in the girl inside me. I dressed different I wore Doc Martins, but I only really dressed up when we went to the clubs.( I'll never forget my Dad's face the time he dropped me off in downtown Sacramento alone amid all the punk kids to go see Primus play at the Crest Theatre) When I moved to Utah when I was 19, I had long blond hair and wore red lipsick. ( I still loved my doc martins, but at church no one would talk to me, and word had it from my sister the girls asked why I wore red lipstick. So I changed my look to try to fit in. I bought khaki pants and polo shirts and curled my hair when I went to church. I made some friends, but none that were truly me. I started working for an airline called Morris Air, I really tried to fit in and bought the jeans that were in and more polo shirts and had a huge crush on a guy that was the preppiest guy in the whole call center who also happened to be quite full of himself and rather rude and truly not the girl I was trying to be to fit in for someone like him. One day I was driving to work and there at the intersection I saw this guy that worked in the rez center on his motorcycle, his black cherry longish hair poking out from under the black bandanna tied around his head. He was wearing a black leather motorcycle jacket and black boots with skulls on them up to his knee. He was the me inside. I watched him for a while and had butterflies every time I saw him. Shortly after I died my hair Tori Amos red. The very next day when I was at work the motorcycle jacket actually talked to me in the break room, and slowly emerged the girl inside again. He became my best friend, and we are still friends to this day. I still never fully delved into Goth, I always wanted to remain semi professional, I dressed up more to go out at night but the love I have for the look never goes away. So this week in our photo challenge was called "push my buttons" I kept thinking of the Goth Girl in me, and did a "Button It" photo and then did a goth maternity shot. It made me reflect a lot this week so I thought I would share! Sometimes when you see me, my normal mommy self.... just know that day may be a tattooed blue haired pierced nose goth girl inside!! :)

Sad for our Children.....

Today's challenge in one of my photo groups was to take three photos that represented your summers as a child. I was reflecting on the freedom we had as children and I am afraid that my generation will be the last (except maybe in some small town America town's) to experience the carefree summer days. I remember leaving in the morning on my bike going all over neighborhoods, playing in creeks and playgrounds out of sight and voice from my mom. (A horrifying thought for me) When I was in the summer of 4th and 5th grade we played flashlight tag at night till 10pm on some nights running through the woods even behind our house. (Not safe to do this anymore) We walked to the mini mart to spend our allowance on candy, rode the city bus to the mall, had lemonade stands. As long as I live in a city like Vegas we will never have our kids doing any of this, I can't even imagine them riding around the block alone on their bikes. Though it is nice to be able to check where sex offenders live now, it also makes you brutally aware they are there and within miles of your home. I was reading a diary from when I was in 5th grade and it seems like it was a whole different universe. I walked a mile to school and was a safety patrol. This means I went out as a 5th grader ALONE about halfway between school and home was my post and helped kids cross the street. Now this would be too dangerous as child predators could stalk kids alone. Life seemed so simple and it hasn't even been so long that times have changed so much. I hope that we can help our kids enjoy childhood without being cooped into a backyard and the house!! I know this I hope to find a small town to live in before my kids are grown!!
